Dr. Steve Landers is an expert in minimally invasive treatments delivering excellent results with Clinical Precision. He is a pioneer of the geniculate artery embolisation (GAE) in Australia, bringing hope to osteoarthritis patients through relief of knee pain. Transarterial microembolisation (TAME) can also be an effective treatment for recalcitrant plantar heel pain or plantar fasciitis, and bursitis.

Dr Steve Landers is an Interventional Radiologist, a clinician performing procedures through tiny incisions using a mild anaesthetic. Patients could be discharged the same day or the next day with early return to normal activities. Through a very small nick in the skin Dr Landers will guide catheters or other instruments through the vascular system in a minimally invasive manner to treat disease directly at the source.

Dr. Steve Landers, MBBS, FRANZCR obtained his Radiology training through Barwon Medical Imaging centre in Geelong with overseas Fellowships at McMaster University in Canada and  University Langone Medical Centre in New York, USA. He played a crucial role in the expansion of the interventional radiology service at Barwon Health.

Dr. Landers and his team commenced the first Randomised Controlled Trial in the world investigating safety, feasibility and clinical outcomes following transcatheter arterial embolisation (TAE) with the purpose to improve pain and function in Early-Stage Knee Osteoarthritis. They also conducted a  single-arm trial aiming to provide the preliminary evidence that TAE might be an effective treatment option for people with plantar heel pain, who had previously failed alternate treatment options. Patients demonstrated significant improvements in pain and function when assessed six months following the procedure.
